TRANSCRIPT OF THE ABOVE VIDEO: Alternative Ways To Say ‘Yum’ in English - Improve Your Natural English Speaking Skills

Hi everyone, its Nicole here from Sydney English Teacher and from The Successful English Learner by Sydney English Teacher, and I'm here answering another one of your questions.

Recently,
somebody asked me ‘What can I say, Nicole, to express that something that I'm eating is really yummy, it tastes good?’ That's a really good question because we overuse the word yum or yummy, and it gets a bit boring if we always say it tastes good, you know, good could be quite a boring plain word. So, I've got some alternative words that I think you are going to enjoy. Are you ready?

Obviously, we could say ‘It's yum.’ or ‘It's yummy.’ Obviously, we could say
‘It tastes good.’ or maybe even ‘It tastes great.’ but even better, we could say ‘It's delicious.’ ‘It’s delicious!’ We can really emphasise that with our voice to really show how amazing it tastes.

‘It's mouth-watering.’ It's mouth-watering. So, it's just so delicious and tastes so incredibly good, that your mouth is just watering, your mouth is really happy. We could say ‘It's tasty.’ or ‘It's really tasty.’ or ‘It's very tasty'.’ or ‘Super tasty.’ if you want.

We could say ‘Wow, that is full
of flavour.’ Full of flavour and I think that's self-explanatory, obviously, there's lots and lots of flavour, it tastes so good in your mouth, on your taste buds. Speaking of taste buds, you could say ‘My taste buds are singing.’ My taste buds are singing. That simply means my taste buds are so happy, it tastes so incredibly good.

So, yeah, we've said delicious, but we could also say ‘It's delish.’
Why say the long version if we can make it shorter, so ‘It's delish.’ It's a good one, isn't it? It's delish.

Another really wonderful word we could say for delicious or yummy is ‘Its scrumptious.’ Scrumptious. scrump - tious, scrumptious, great. Amazing word here, if something tastes so incredible, and you just want to show that it's like the extreme best possible taste ever, we can say ‘It's heavenly.’ It's heavenly, isn't that great, I love that one. ‘It's Heavenly.’ It tastes like heaven.

We could say
‘It tastes amazing.’ ‘It tastes incredible.’ ‘It tastes so good.’ Can you see how I'm making my voice longer there to emphasise it? ‘It's so good.’ ‘I've never had anything better.’ I've never had anything better. It's good, isn't it?

So, there you go, lots of lovely ways to say that something tastes really
good. So, next time you're eating something amazingly delicious, how about you use some of these beautiful expressions to show people exactly how good it tastes. Yum. Enjoy, everyone. Bye.
